Dishwashing Zone

My hands are on autopilot, and my brain has space to process: somehow, all the jumbled information of the day becomes coherent in the dishwashing zone.
My ruminations swirl in the sink with the sudsy water. When stillness arrives, there are three little phrases floating to the surface like three pieces of arugula from the salad bowl.

Quick! Catch them, write them down before they trickle down the drain.
Still in my apron, the backs of my hands damp, I pinch my notebook from my bag and lean over my bed as I flip to an empty page: The Wishing Well, Stargazy Pie, and The Pressed Fairy Book, the perfect names for my three sisters.
